What I really, really want. What I get may have more “patina”.

So I’m on the hunt for a summer DD/project truck. What do I want? Good question. I want a 1967-1972 SWB Ford F100. I think. A LWB model wouldn’t be rejected if it looks right.

This is where the Automotive ADD kicks in. If I come across a 60-66 “Slick” at a reasonable price I’d be on board with the program too.

Or a Wagoneer..

Or maybe a Ramcharger..

Hey! That 69 C-10 looks pretty nice! Ooh look, a Jeep J10! Is that a 1979 F150 Pace Truck?

I’m losing my freaking mind!

How do you stay focused on one vehicle?

Block access to Goo-Net.

Because if I were to sell my FoST and get a 10-year-old Civic or something to daily I could have a Skyline GTS-R or a Mark II GSS or something really awesome.

You’ll eventually get frustrated and give up for two weeks.... But then be back at it again... It’s a painful cycle

I’m cheap and it takes me a while to make up my mind.... but that is an awesome looking F100.

i keep my mind by building a driveline before i build a vehicle. decide what im going to build first, and what it has to do. what the weight of the vehicle is, so i know if im building a torque motor or an rpm motor,. what trans i want to put in it. THAT WAY......... you dont care what is in the truck/car you are wanting to buy. gives you lots of room for when you look at the truck.

for example if a guy is all proud of how he just got done rebuilding the motor, then tell him that he can keep it.(the motor)

plan ahead........... stick to the plan (btw youre rebuilding a 351w)

i was all over the place. I had no idea what I wanted. My craigslist search was for under $10k, maunaul, AWD or RWD which had a huge spread of types.

There's a Grand Wagoneer in my area that is suspiciously cheap. My wife had to all but yank the checkbook out of my hands. There's a reason she's smarter than me.

Rule #1 - do not hesitate to walk away if it’s wrong for you - truck, price, anything.

options dont be afraid to cut up a good truck to make what you want

Kinja'd!!!

cut about ten inches out of the frame, and plate it back together, BAM instant short bed, and its 4x4. cut down the driveshaft too.

I’ve always felt that if there’s not one model that sticks out above everything else then I’m not ready to pick. Interesting things still pop up but I know if I go for something else, I’ll regret not getting what I was after.

I remember your search. That was crazy!

I’m limiting myself to $3500 preferably less because there’s going to be close to $1000 in shipping.

I’ve self-banned myself from Ebay. Too easy to have a few beers and say “F—- it, why not”.

My big thing is Rot. Surface rust I can deal with, replacing panels isn’t worth it.

I’ve started feeling that way too. I may broaden my search to 61-79 trucks but that’s it. If I buy anything else I know I’ll be disappointed.

I watch lots of car repair videos (mercedessource.com and others), and that’s the thing I always hear. Those of us in the salty states have to be careful. In fact, if I had to buy a used car now, I just might head for CA, FL, or some other state where the body would pristine.

How do I stay focused on one vehicle? I don’t. Lost cause.
